Demonstrations are expected to occur near the Grahadi Building in downtown Surabaya on August 29, 2025. The event is anticipated to start at 1 p.m. and continue throughout the day, with thousands of participants likely involved. The demonstration area is close to Tunjungan Plaza, a busy commercial district.

The U.S. Consulate General in Surabaya has issued an alert advising people to avoid the protest area due to possible traffic congestion and road closures. The consulate also warned that protests have the potential to become violent.

"Protests have the potential to become violent, please avoid these areas," stated the alert from the U.S. Consulate General Surabaya.

U.S. citizens and others in the vicinity are advised to monitor local media for updates, avoid crowds, notify friends and family of their safety, be aware of their surroundings, and familiarize themselves with alternate routes to avoid disruptions.
