Sinopec subsidiary partners on large-scale green hydrogen project in Saudi Arabia

Sinopec Guangzhou Engineering Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of SINOPEC Engineering (Group) Co., Ltd. (SEG), has entered into a joint venture with Spanish company Técnicas Reunidas to provide engineering services for a major green hydrogen and green ammonia project in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia. The contract was awarded by ACWA Power, a leading energy developer in the region.

The project is scheduled to begin commercial operations in 2030. It aims to produce 400,000 tonnes of green hydrogen and 2.8 million tonnes of green ammonia annually using wind and solar power. According to the companies involved, this initiative will help expand the use of green hydrogen and ammonia technologies and support efforts toward global energy transition.
