Recently, China's Ministry of Natural Resources approved more than 165 billion cubic meters of proven shale gas reserves in the Hongxing shale gas field, a project submitted by Sinopec Jianghan Oilfield. This approval marks the discovery of another large-scale shale gas field in China and highlights the region's resource potential.
Sinopec has established a deep shale gas field in Fuling with reserves at the trillion-cubic-meter level. The company also operates four other deep shale gas fields — Weirong, Qijiang, Yongchuan, and Hongxing — each with proven reserves of about 100 billion cubic meters.
