The United States and Ecuador have renewed the Ecuador–United States Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group in the National Assembly, aiming to strengthen cooperation on security, trade, and development. The initiative is intended to reinforce bilateral relations and address shared concerns such as organized crime and corruption.
During a ceremony marking the relaunch, U.S. representatives emphasized their commitment to supporting Ecuador amid ongoing security challenges. The United States has stated its readiness to assist Ecuador in strengthening security measures, combating drug trafficking and terrorism, and promoting trade between the two countries.
Erik Martini, acting Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Ecuador, said: “The reestablishment of the Group is a timely and strategic step to ensure our alliance remains strong and enduring. This Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group is a vital platform for legislative dialogue, cooperation, and the exchange of best practices, and I am pleased to see its revival. Let us seize this moment to deepen our partnership and build a more prosperous, secure, and resilient future for both the United States and Ecuador.”
With this relaunch, there will be a more regular channel of communication between Ecuador’s National Assembly and representatives from the U.S. diplomatic mission. This development marks an important milestone for upcoming meetings and cooperative agreements aimed at further strengthening ties between the two nations.
