Julie Eadeh has arrived in Hong Kong to take up her role as the new U.S. Consul General, following the departure of Greg May last month.

Eadeh is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service with the rank of Minister Counselor. She began her duties as Consul General in August 2025. Her previous assignments include serving as U.S. Consul General in Istanbul, Türkiye, and postings in Ankara, Hong Kong, Doha, Shanghai, Baghdad, Riyadh, and Beirut.

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Michigan University and a Master of Arts degree from Georgetown University. Eastern Michigan University awarded her an honorary doctorate for her contributions to diplomacy and public service. Eadeh speaks Turkish, Arabic, and Mandarin Chinese.

She is married to another Foreign Service Officer and they have two sons.
