Alan S. Purcell, Deputy Chief of Mission | U.S. Embassy in Georgia

Chargé d’Affaires Alan Purcell visited the Georgian cities of Batumi and Poti last week, meeting with local partners and touring important ports and businesses to highlight ongoing economic cooperation between the United States and Georgia.

During his visit to Batumi, Purcell toured the Wondernet Terminal, which has investment from the U.S. company Trammo. In Poti, he visited APM Terminals Poti and PACE Terminal, where he learned about their current operations and discussed future expansion plans.

Purcell also met with alumni of U.S. government exchange programs at the American Corner in Batumi. He listened to how their experiences through these exchanges have supported their professional work in Georgia.

Additionally, Purcell held meetings with religious leaders including Metropolitan Dimitri of Batumi and Metropolitan Grigol of Poti. These discussions focused on their community efforts and emphasized U.S. support for preserving Georgia’s cultural heritage.
