Sinopec has announced a major development in its Project Deep Earth, specifically within the Sichuan and Chongqing Natural Gas Base. The company has discovered new proven geological reserves totaling 124.588 billion cubic meters at the Yongchuan field in the Sichuan Basin. This makes Yongchuan another deep shale gas field in China with proven reserves surpassing 100 billion cubic meters.
The Sichuan and Chongqing Natural Gas Base is a key part of Sinopec's broader Deep Earth Project. According to Sinopec, the company has consistently achieved progress in deep oil and gas exploration in the Sichuan Basin over recent years. These efforts are intended to supply clean energy for economic growth along the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
