On August 22, 2025, two U.S. citizens, Tevin Williams and Zakiya Williams, were deported from Trinidad and Tobago to the United States. They face federal charges related to drug trafficking and failure to appear in court. The operation involved collaboration between the U.S. Diplomatic Security Service (DSS), U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Task Force officers, and officers from the Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS). The pair were escorted from Port of Spain back to the United States.

Authorities charged Tevin and Zakiya Williams in California and New York in September 2023. After receiving pre-trial release that year, they left the country for Trinidad and Tobago. This led to federal charges and warrants issued by USMS. In March 2025, USMS deputy marshals, DSS special agents, and TOCU agents began searching for them after learning they might be hiding in Trinidad and Tobago. The fugitives were arrested on August 19, 2025, by TOCU and the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Vetted Unit (VU) in La Romaine. On August 21, 2025, the Ministry of Homeland Security in Trinidad and Tobago ordered their deportation.

Several agencies contributed to this case: TTPS’s TOCU, VU, Ministry of National Security, Customs and Immigration of Trinidad and Tobago, Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago, USMS, DSS, U.S. Embassy Port of Spain Consular Section, U.S. Postal Inspection Service, U.S Customs and Border Protection, and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Charlie Franta said: “The close partnership between our nations’ law enforcement services, and the results those relationships consistently produce, provide a shining example of what we can accomplish together. Locating, arresting, and conducting a return of two U.S. fugitives simultaneously is a feat unheard of in the region. I’m very proud of our two nations’ professionals in law enforcement as they continue every day to strive to make our countries, and the world, a safer place for our citizens.”
