U.S. citizens living in Botswana can now pay their passport application fees online, according to an announcement from the U.S. Embassy in Botswana. This new system is effective immediately and applies to all types of U.S. passport applications.

Applicants using the DS-11 form for first-time passports or renewals for minors can pay through a dedicated online link, while those renewing adult passports with the DS-82 form have a separate payment portal. Payment instructions are available on the embassy’s website.

The embassy emphasized that applicants must print or save their Pay.gov tracking ID as proof of payment, which will need to be presented during their appointment with a consular officer. All passport fees are non-refundable.

The processing time for passports may take up to three weeks depending on demand, so applicants are encouraged to renew well before their travel dates.

The schedule of fees remains unchanged:

- First-Time Adult Passport Book (DS-11): $165

- First-Time Adult Passport Card (DS-11): $65

- First-Time Adult Passport Book and Card (DS-11): $195

- Adult Passport Book Renewal (DS-82): $130

- Adult Passport Card Renewal (DS-82): $30

- Adult Passport Book and Card Renewal (DS-82): $160

- Minor Passport Book (first-time or renewal) (DS-11): $135

- Minor Passport Card (renewal) (DS-11): $50

- Minor Passport Book and Card (first-time or renewal) (DS-11): $150

- Renewal of adult passport issued more than 15 years ago (DS-11): $165

- Replacement of damaged, lost, or stolen minor passport (DS-11): $135

- Replacement of damaged, lost, or stolen adult passport (DS-11): $165

- Replacement of limited-validity passport issued less than 12 months ago (DS-5504): No fee

“Online fee payment is easy, accessible, and the preferred form of payment. Limited exceptions can be made for anyone unable to pay online,” stated the announcement.
