Samsung Electronics announced that its Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam and Bespoke Jet Bot Combo robot vacuum cleaners, along with the Bespoke AI Refrigerators, have received IoT security certification from TÜV Nord. This is the first time Samsung’s digital appliances have achieved this recognition.

“As the global focus on smart home security intensifies, Samsung continues to deliver robust protection through our Knox security platform,” said Jeong Seung Moon, Executive Vice President and Head of the R&D Team for Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics. “This certification validates the strength of our security technologies, and we will continue to enhance differentiated protection to safeguard customer data.”

TÜV Nord is a global certification body based in Germany and is recognized as an IECEE-accredited National Certification Body. The certification process follows the ETSI EN 303 645 standard set by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), which outlines requirements for consumer IoT device security throughout their lifecycle. These requirements include data encryption, authentication and access control, secure software updates, personal data protection, and vulnerability management.

European regulations are increasing requirements for IoT device security with changes to directives such as the Radio Equipment Directive (RED) and upcoming rules under the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). With this certification, Samsung shows it can meet these new international standards and demonstrates its commitment to protecting users’ connected devices.

Samsung has incorporated multiple layers of Knox security technologies into its home appliances. Features include verification against unauthorized firmware changes when a device powers up. Monitoring video footage and user commands from robot cleaners are encrypted during transmission and decrypted only at their destination on compatible Samsung devices running Android 11 or later.

The latest certified models also use Knox Matrix for mutual device checks—alerting users quickly if there are risks of data theft—and Knox Vault, which stores sensitive information like passwords on dedicated hardware subsystems for added protection.

The Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam will be introduced at IFA 2025 in September. The Bespoke Jet Bot Combo and Bespoke AI Refrigerators are already being released in select markets worldwide.
