The United States has voiced its support for the people of Burma, with particular mention of the Rohingya and other ethnic groups affected by violence and displacement. In a statement issued on August 24, 2025, Thomas “Tommy” Pigott, Principal Deputy Spokesperson, said, "The United States expresses its support for the people of Burma, including Rohingya and other ethnic groups who have been subjected to violence and displacement. We commend the Government of Bangladesh for continuing to provide shelter to displaced Rohingya, as well as to other countries in the region for hosting refugees from Burma."
Bangladesh continues to host large numbers of Rohingya refugees who have fled conflict in Burma. Other countries in Southeast Asia are also providing refuge to those escaping violence.
