The United States has voiced its support for the people of Burma, with particular mention of the Rohingya and other ethnic groups who have faced violence and displacement. In a statement released on August 24, 2025, Thomas “Tommy” Pigott, Principal Deputy Spokesperson, addressed ongoing concerns in the region.
"The United States expresses its support for the people of Burma, including Rohingya and other ethnic groups who have been subjected to violence and displacement. We commend the Government of Bangladesh for continuing to provide shelter to displaced Rohingya, as well as to other countries in the region for hosting refugees from Burma," said Pigott.
Bangladesh continues to host large numbers of Rohingya refugees fleeing unrest in Burma. Other neighboring countries have also provided refuge for those affected by conflict in Burma.
