Joan Perkins Deputy Chief of Mission | U.S. Embassy in Peru

Consular staff from the U.S. Embassy in Lima will travel to Trujillo on September 4, 2025, to provide services for U.S. citizens living in the area. The embassy announced that appointments can be requested for passport renewals, registering the birth of a child abroad to U.S. citizen parents, and notarial services.

Appointments are limited and will be given to those who submit complete requests by email as described by the embassy. The specific time and location for these services in Trujillo will be shared once appointments are confirmed.

For passport applications, both adults and minors can request appointments. However, adults eligible for mail-in renewal are encouraged to use that option due to limited availability.

To request a passport appointment, applicants should send completed DS-11 or DS-82 forms along with a scanned copy of their current U.S. passport to LimaACS@state.gov with the subject line “Passport Application TRUJILLO” and their name.

For children born abroad to U.S. citizen parents, Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA) appointments are available. Applicants must create a MyTravelGov account, submit an application online through eCRBA, pay the $100 fee on Pay.gov, and then email LimaACS@state.gov with “eCRBA Appointment Request TRUJILLO” in the subject line along with their case number.

After receiving the case number by email, consular staff will review it and contact applicants to schedule an interview with a Consular Officer in Arequipa. Both parents and children must attend this appointment.

Notarial services can also be requested by emailing LimaACS@state.gov with “Notarial appointment TRUJILLO” in the subject line and including your name. Details about available notarial services can be found on the embassy’s Notarial Services page at https://pe.usembassy.gov.

The embassy reminded citizens that on September 16, 2024, the Department of State launched an updated version of its Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). Citizens who wish to continue receiving alerts should re-enroll at step.state.gov.

Contact information for both U.S. Embassy Lima and the Consular Agency Cusco is provided for further assistance.
