The United States Embassy in Nassau will close to the public on Tuesday, August 26 at its current Queen Street location and reopen at a new site at 235 Shirley Street on Tuesday, September 2. This move ends fifty-two years of operations at the previous address.

The new embassy compound represents a $225 million investment aimed at strengthening the U.S. presence in The Bahamas. According to the embassy, this facility is expected to support greater cooperation between the two countries in areas such as law enforcement, economic development, maritime safety, education, and cultural exchange. Its proximity to the Nassau cruise port is intended to make consular services more accessible for Americans visiting or living in The Bahamas.

During the transition period when the embassy is closed, American citizens who require emergency services are advised to visit bs.usembassy.gov or contact the American Citizen Services office by email at acsnassau@state.gov or by phone at 1-242-322-1181. The general public can also receive updates about the relocation through @USEmbassyNassau on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and Instagram.
