The English for STEM and Arts program has started, marking a new effort by the United States to support education in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and the arts. The initiative aims to help participants improve their English skills in these fields.
Deputy Chief of Mission Molly L. Stephenson said, "language is a bridge to opportunity and innovation."
Participants selected for this edition of the program were congratulated for their involvement. Organizers stated that their participation shows a commitment to excellence, collaboration, and advancing education.
Applications for the program closed after an outreach period from July 14-18 through American Spaces, universities, incubators, and social media. During this time, applications were collected and then reviewed between July 21-23. Shortlisted candidates took English placement tests on July 24. Final selections were made on July 29 with notifications sent out to successful applicants.
A pre-program onboarding email was sent on August 1 with access links and schedules for online courses. The first in-person sessions took place on August 5 and August 7.
