Candace A. Bond Ambassador | U.S. Embassy in Trinidad and Tobago

The U.S. Embassy in Trinidad and Tobago has introduced an online payment option for adult U.S. passport renewal applications, allowing eligible applicants to mail their documents rather than applying in person. This service is available exclusively to U.S. citizens residing in Trinidad and Tobago.

Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements to use the online system. These include being able to submit their most recent passport by mail, having been at least 16 years old when it was issued, possessing a passport issued less than 15 years ago with a 10-year validity, ensuring the current name matches the previous passport or providing documentation of a name change, and currently living in Trinidad and Tobago with a valid mailing address.

"Paying online allows you to mail your application to the U.S. Embassy without the need to apply in person," according to information from the embassy.

For those not meeting all eligibility criteria, instructions are provided for scheduling an appointment at the U.S. Embassy Port of Spain for an in-person application.

The process for renewing by mail requires completing and signing Form DS-82, providing a recent color passport photo that meets specified requirements, including a photocopy of the data page from the previous passport, submitting any relevant name change documents with English translations if necessary, and paying the $130 fee through the secure government payment site using accepted methods such as credit or debit cards, electronic funds transfer from a U.S.-based bank account, Amazon Pay, or PayPal.

After payment, applicants must print out their electronic confirmation email and include it with their mailed package. Each application requires a separate payment transaction.

Applicants also need two TTPOST Trackpacks—one Foolscap size for sending documents to the embassy and one A5 size for return delivery of the new passport book. The return address section should include a local contact number for tracking purposes.

Packages should be mailed to:

Embassy of the United States of America

Attn: Consular Section – American Citizen Services

2 Marli Street, Newtown 190203

Passports are typically returned via TTPOST courier within three to four weeks after receipt by the embassy.
