The U.S. Embassy in Algiers, in collaboration with Project Harmony International, the Algerian Fencing Federation, and the Ministry of Sports, marked the conclusion of the Fencing Futures Camp. The five-day event brought together Algerian and American athletes and coaches for a training program funded by a grant from the U.S. Embassy in Algiers to Project Harmony International.

The camp took place at Le Centre de Regroupement des Athlètes and included 11 Algerian coaches and 24 Algerian athletes who received instruction from American coaches and athletes. Participants worked on their technical skills while focusing on sportsmanship.

At the closing ceremony, U.S. Ambassador to Algeria Elizabeth Moore Aubin addressed attendees: “This camp is yet another example of the strong and growing partnership between the United States and Algeria,” she said. “Every day, our bilateral relationship deepens—whether in sports, cultural programming, or commerce—and this week of training is a powerful testament to what we can achieve together.”

The Fencing Futures Camp is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen ties between the United States and Algeria through sports diplomacy. As a continuation of these efforts, ten Algerian coaches and sports administrators are scheduled to travel to New Jersey in November as part of the International Sports Programming Initiative, where they will train with American counterparts and learn about academic sports programs in the United States.
