The Social Security Administration will offer services at the U.S. Embassy in Sarajevo on September 18 and 19, 2025. The visit aims to provide information and assistance to current and future Social Security recipients living in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
According to the announcement, two representatives from the Social Security Section based in Athens, Greece, will be available at the embassy’s Consular Section. They will be present on Thursday, September 18, from 09:00 to 16:00, and on Friday, September 19, from 09:00 to 12:00.
The representatives will help with the issuance of initial Social Security numbers for applicants over age 12, which requires a personal interview. Personal interviews are required for those applying for retirement benefits or for beneficiaries who want to change their bank data.
Appointments are required for all services. To schedule an appointment, individuals should email FBU.Athens@ssa.gov with "FBU Services" in the subject line. The message should include full name, date of birth, last four digits of the Social Security number, address, telephone number, and a brief explanation of the request. Appointments will be given on a first come, first served basis until all slots are filled.
