The U.S. Consulate General in Lagos has announced plans to hold an auction sale featuring used household furniture, appliances, generators, vehicles, and other miscellaneous items. The event will take place at 3 Sapara Street, Off Oba Akran Road Ikeja, near May and Baker Pharmaceutical Company.
Interested buyers can inspect and view the items on August 27, 28, and 29, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The actual sale is scheduled for August 30, running from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Items purchased during the auction must be picked up on August 31 or September 2 and 3.
All items are sold "as is" with no guarantee of serviceability. According to the consulate’s statement: “NO RETURNS AND NO REFUNDS.” Customs duty must be paid by auction winners on all items except those procured locally. Buyers are required to show proof of customs duty payment before collecting their purchases.
Payment for items won at the auction must be made in full immediately after winning the bid; otherwise, the lot will be rebid. Payments are accepted only through electronic fund transfer or debit card (POS).
The consulate reserves the right to withdraw any item from the list before finalizing the sale. All purchased items must be removed from the consulate compound within three days of payment. Failure to do so will result in a daily demurrage fee of 1,000 naira per day. If not collected within this period, the consulate may resell unclaimed items without issuing refunds.
A valid identification document is required for all bidders entering U.S. government property; there are no exceptions to this rule.
