A delegation from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Critical Incident Response Group (CIRG) visited Doha, Qatar, from August 10 to 15. The visit took place at the invitation of Qatar’s Safety and Security Operations Committee (SSOC) and is part of ongoing cooperation between the United States and Qatar to strengthen security measures ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The FBI officials met with their Qatari counterparts to discuss best practices, review legacy systems from the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and enhance technical cooperation for major sporting events. Their program included site visits to Lusail Stadium, the National Command Center (NCC), the Tournament Command Center (TCC), and the headquarters of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy. The delegation also observed a live demonstration focused on anti-drone scenarios.
A technical briefing was provided on QSSIO, Qatar’s real-time intelligence-sharing platform, highlighting its role in event-time decision-making processes.
According to a statement released about the visit: "The visit underscored the strong and growing partnership between the United States and the State of Qatar in the field of security cooperation."
This engagement forms part of a broader strategic partnership aimed at promoting global safety, stability, and collaboration through dialogue, innovation, and joint capacity-building efforts.
