Dewey Moore Consul & Principal Officer at U.S. Consulate Busan | U.S Embassy and Consulate in Korea

Dewey Moore has assumed the role of Principal Officer at the U.S. Consulate in Busan as of August 18, 2025. Moore brings extensive experience from his previous position as Political and Economic Chief at the U.S. Consulate General in Shenyang, China. He has also completed two assignments at the U.S. Embassy in Seoul, including serving as the first diplomatic exchange officer in South Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Moore began his career with the U.S. Foreign Service in 2006 and has held posts in Guangzhou, China; Majuro, Marshall Islands; and within the State Department’s Office of Intellectual Property Enforcement. Before entering government service, he worked as an attorney for WilmerHale in Washington, D.C., and spent two years with LG Electronics in Korea from 1996 to 1997. During that time, he worked for a year in Gumi City, Gyeongbuk Province, which is part of the district served by Consulate Busan.

Moore holds a JD/MA in Law and Asian Studies from The George Washington University and a BA in Korean and International Relations from Brigham Young University. He is married and has two adult sons.
