The U.S. Embassy Gaborone Military Group and the North Carolina National Guard recently worked with Botswana Defense Force (BDF) medical personnel in a joint training event held from August 11 to 15. The training was part of the State Partnership Program, which aims to build cooperation between U.S. military units and partner nations.
The exercise focused on improving civilian emergency care and disaster response in challenging conditions, including extreme weather and remote locations. Participants shared methods and strategies to better respond to crises and provide support to affected communities.
According to the organizers, "By sharing effective tactics, techniques, and procedures, both teams strengthened their ability to respond to crises and support communities when it matters most."
The event also highlighted the North Carolina National Guard’s ongoing commitment to international partnerships and preparedness for emergencies. "This engagement reflects the NC National Guard’s commitment to global partnerships, regional stability, and collective preparedness," stated representatives involved in the program.
"Proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our partners in Botswana!" said participants at the conclusion of the training.
