U.S. Ambassador to Panama Kevin Marino Cabrera visited the Azuero region on August 14, 2025, where he met with government officials, local leaders, entrepreneurs, and students. The visit included stops in both Herrera and Los Santos provinces.
The tour started at José Daniel Crespo School in Chitré. There, Ambassador Cabrera delivered donations that included air conditioners, projectors, laptops, a dental chair, and medical kits. These items are expected to benefit more than 1,900 students and over 200 staff members at the school. During his visit, the ambassador also watched a performance by the school's band.
Ambassador Cabrera continued his tour at Casa Museo El Pausílipo in Las Tablas. In collaboration with local governors and as part of the U.S. Southern Command’s Humanitarian Assistance Program, he participated in a ceremony donating over one thousand water filters for community use. He later visited homes to help install some of these filters and provided additional supplies such as backpacks to Francisco Ignacio Castillero School in Guararé.
These donations are intended to support safer communities and reflect ongoing efforts between the United States and Panama to improve local well-being.
During lunch at Orígenes restaurant owned by folk singer Karen Peralta, Ambassador Cabrera spoke with local leaders about regional issues while experiencing traditional cuisine and dances.
The U.S. Embassy delegation also toured Unión Ganadera—operated by Carnes de Coclé—which is recognized as an important business within Panama’s food sector and imports high-quality meat from the United States.
Ambassador Cabrera met Mejorana Festival Queen María Luz Saavedra Vergara during his stay and learned about cultural sites including Santa Librada church.
“I have truly enjoyed the rich cultural heritage of Azuero and the opportunity to speak with students and community leaders who have welcomed me so warmly,” said Ambassador Cabrera. “We look forward to continue working with Panama through U.S. government initiatives, including the Southern Command’s Humanitarian Assistance Program, to promote prosperity across the region.”
