Representatives from the Regional Federal Benefits Unit will visit Medellín, Bogotá, Cali, and Pereira from August 25 to 28, 2025, to provide services related to U.S. Social Security and other federal benefits. The visits are organized by the U.S. Embassy in Colombia.

In Medellín, services will be available at Centro Colombo Americano on Carrera 45 #53-24 from August 25 to August 28, between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM each day. In Bogotá, representatives will be present at Centro Colombo Americano on Calle 98 No. 17-32 from August 25 to August 27 during the same hours. Cali’s location is Centro Colombo Americano on Calle 13 Norte No 8-45, Barrio Granada, with services offered from August 25 to August 27. In Pereira, the venue is Centro Colombo Americano at Carrera 6 #23-58, Biblioteca, piso 5; services there will also run from August 25 to August 27.

According to the announcement: "We will provide a regulated number of tickets per day for services with a representative. Please ensure to bring all original documents and a photocopy of each to submit your application."

Individuals who need to submit their completed Foreign Enforcement Questionnaire SSA 7162/7161 form may do so during service hours at any of these locations.

The embassy advises that those submitting the Foreign Enforcement Questionnaire (FEQ) should note that “FBU will accept the 2024 ‘proof of life’ forms. These were mailed this year to individuals whose last two numbers of the Social Security Number under which they receive benefits ends with 00 through 49 and who have a mailing address registered in Colombia.”

For those applying for Social Security benefits or a Social Security Number Card, specific documentation is required such as an original and copy of birth certificate and U.S. passport; additional documents are needed for auxiliary or survivor’s benefits.
