Meta and Nigerian designer Ifeanyi Nwune’s fashion house, I.N Official, are collaborating to launch the first AI-imagined fashion collection at Africa Fashion Week London. The event is scheduled for August 9, 2025, and will feature the Fall/Winter 2025 collection titled ‘Transcendence’, which aims to showcase African fashion and creativity internationally.

The collaboration uses Meta AI technology throughout the creative process. According to Meta, their AI tool contributed from initial color and fabric selection to storytelling and visualization strategies. This approach demonstrates how artificial intelligence can be integrated into fashion design and planning.

Balkissa Idé Siddo, Public Policy Director for Sub-Saharan Africa at Meta, stated: “We are excited to see how Meta AI is powering bold new expressions of African fashion on a global stage. This collection shows how Meta AI—available in apps people use everyday like WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger—goes beyond just being a tool; it becomes part of the creative process, helping every creator dream bigger, build faster and bring new ideas to life. African creativity has always led global conversations—and with the world’s most accessible AI assistant, that momentum only grows.”

Designer Ifeanyi Nwune used prompts within Meta AI to generate images for inspiration during the design process. For example, one prompt created a silhouette blending traditional African Agbada attire with Japanese Hakama style. The search feature within Meta AI also suggested accessory options for both men’s and women’s outfits based on keywords entered by the designer.

Speaking about his work on the collection, Nwune said: “With Meta AI, we are transcending an African future fuelled by unity, creativity, and technology.”

Meta describes its AI assistant as widely available through WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, Messenger and meta.ai. The company says this collaboration reflects its ongoing commitment to supporting African creatives with accessible digital tools.
