Applicants for U.S. visas are being reminded to ensure that the barcode number on their DS-160 visa application matches the one in their appointment profile before attending an interview at the U.S. Embassy. The barcode, which begins with "AA," must be correct, complete, and final.
The U.S. Embassy has emphasized that applicants should update their DS-160 barcode number themselves prior to their Visa Application Center (VAC) appointment. This requirement applies even if a visa service or third party assists with the application process. The Embassy clarified that business days do not include weekends or official holidays when the Embassy is closed.
To update the DS-160 barcode number, applicants need to log into their account at https://ais.usvisa-info.com. On the “Applicant Summary Page,” they should click on the settings icon, select “Edit,” and enter the accurate confirmation number in the “DS-160 Number” field before saving.
"Please note, a 'business day' does not include weekends or holidays on which the Embassy is closed."
The Embassy has stated that it is each applicant’s responsibility to meet this requirement by updating any incorrect or incomplete information at least three business days before their scheduled interview.
