Yuanta Financial Holding Company (FHC) has been recognized by Taiwan’s Ministry of Environment for its ongoing commitment to green procurement. On July 30, the company received an award at the “2024 Private Enterprise and Organization Green Procurement Excellence Awards Ceremony,” marking the thirteenth consecutive year it has earned this distinction.
In 2024, Yuanta FHC’s green procurement spending reached NT$298 million, which is nearly a ten percent increase from the previous year. The company’s supply chain management also achieved an “A” rating in the CDP Supplier Engagement Rating (SER) for the sixth straight year, highlighting consistent performance in sustainable procurement.
The Ministry of Environment encourages businesses to engage in sustainable practices such as green procurement and circular economy initiatives as part of efforts to support Taiwan's Hope Project and promote a net-zero sustainable lifestyle. Yuanta FHC is a member of the Coalition of Movers and Shakers on Sustainable Finance and has adopted ISO 20400 guidelines for sustainable procurement. The company prioritizes purchasing products with green labels and has reported four consecutive years of growth in its green procurement spending.
Yuanta FHC incorporates circular economy principles into its operations by using service-oriented business models that favor leasing over purchasing. This approach allows manufacturers to handle maintenance and replacement of consumables, increasing resource efficiency and reducing waste. These efforts are aligned with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 12, which promotes responsible consumption and production patterns.
The company also works closely with suppliers on sustainability issues through annual ESG exchange meetings focused on topics like “Green Transformation and Carbon Management.” These events provide training on carbon inventory processes and encourage greater participation in environmentally friendly practices among suppliers. Since 2010, Yuanta FHC has maintained an “A” rating from CDP for supplier engagement, greenhouse gas scope 3 management, and risk procedures.
“Yuanta FHC persists in leveraging financial influence to lead suppliers in jointly emphasizing corporate sustainability issues. We hold annual ESG (environmental, social, and governance) exchange meetings with suppliers to share the latest global sustainability trends and engage in two-way communication and consultation. The first exchange meeting of the year focused on the theme of ‘Green Transformation and Carbon Management,’ providing practical training on carbon inventory and popularizing green procurement reporting. This event aims to enhance suppliers’ understanding and implementation of green initiatives, actively calling for their participation in green actions to achieve sustainable results through steady collaboration,” said a representative from Yuanta FHC.
“Our supply chain management has also been awarded the highest rating of ‘A’ in the CDP Supplier Engagement Rating (SER), demonstrating our outstanding performance in sustainable procurement management for six years in a row,” added another statement from Yuanta FHC.
“The MOE continues to encourage companies to carry out sustainable actions such as green procurement and circular economy in order to promote the national Hope Project’s Strategy for Shaping a Net-Zero Sustainable Green Lifestyle,” stated Taiwan’s Ministry of Environment.
