The United States has formally notified Congress about a plan to donate two additional C-130H Hercules military transport aircraft to Botswana. Each aircraft is valued at $12 million. This proposal follows the delivery of a similar C-130H in June 2024, which is currently in use by the Botswana Defence Force Air Wing.

Before the transfer can proceed, both countries will need to complete aircraft inspections and negotiate further investments. If approved, these two new planes would add to Botswana’s ability to conduct humanitarian missions, support peacekeeping operations, and contribute to regional security efforts.

According to officials, "These aircraft showcase the powerful partnership between the United States and Botswana and our shared commitment to advancing peace and security across Africa."

The move is expected to enhance Botswana's strategic airlift capacity in southern Africa.
