A bipartisan delegation from the U.S. House of Representatives, led by House Committee on Financial Services Chairman French Hill (R-AR), met with Peruvian President Dina Boluarte and several high-ranking officials in Lima on August 1, 2025. The group also held discussions with Central Reserve Bank of Peru Chairman Julio Velarde, Minister of Economy and Finance Raúl Pérez-Reyes, Prime Minister Eduardo Arana Ysa, Foreign Minister Elmer Schialer, and Congressman José Jerí, who was recently elected as President of the Peruvian Congress.

The meetings coincided with the bicentennial celebration of diplomatic relations between the United States and Peru. Delegation members highlighted the two countries’ shared commitment to democratic values and explored ways to strengthen bilateral ties. Topics discussed included increasing investment in Peru’s critical infrastructure and enhancing cooperation to combat transnational crime and illicit finance.

“I was pleased to meet with President Boluarte and other key stakeholders in Peru to discuss the relationship between our nations. Peru is a strong partner in promoting economic growth, protecting democracy, and ensuring regional stability. Our bipartisan meetings reinforced the importance of expanding financial cooperation between our two countries. I look forward to working together on the future of economic soundness,” said Chairman Hill following the meetings.

Lawmakers participating in the delegation were Rep. French Hill (R-AR), Rep. Janelle Bynum (D-OR), Rep. Warren Davidson (R-OH), Rep. Troy Downing (R-MT), and Rep. Tim Moore (R-NC).
