Toyota highlights sustainability efforts and market presence across Europe

Toyota Motor Europe NV/SA (TME) manages the wholesale sales and marketing of Toyota, GR (Gazoo Racing), and Lexus vehicles, as well as parts and accessories in Europe. The company also oversees Toyota’s European manufacturing and engineering operations. Since 1990, Toyota has invested more than EUR 12 billion in Europe and directly employs over 26,000 people. Its eight manufacturing plants are located in Portugal, the UK, France, Poland, Czech Republic, and Turkey.

Currently, there are about 14.7 million Toyota and Lexus vehicles on European roads. Drivers of these vehicles are supported by a network of 28 National Marketing and Sales Companies and around 2,800 retail sales outlets in 53 countries across Europe, including the EU, UK, EFTA countries, Israel, Turkey, and other Eastern European countries. Toyota states that its mission is to enable "Mobility for All," aiming to provide safer, more connected, inclusive, and sustainable mobility options to create “Happiness for All.” In line with this goal in Europe, TME launched the KINTO mobility brand which now offers a variety of mobility services across 20 countries. The company is also expanding its business-to-business sales of zero-emission fuel cell products and providing engineering support.

As part of its commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Toyota is working toward carbon neutrality throughout its European operations. TME has set a target to achieve a complete reduction of CO2 emissions from all new vehicles sold in Western Europe by 2035. To meet diverse customer needs across the region, the company continues to offer hybrid electric vehicles alongside plug-in hybrid models as well as battery electric and fuel cell electric vehicles.
