At an event marking a new phase in U.S.–Hungarian energy cooperation, Chargé d’Affaires Palladino spoke alongside Hungarian Minister Szijjártó, Polish Chargé d’Affaires Sladewski, and executives from Synthos Green Energy and Hunatom. The gathering celebrated the signing of an agreement that brings together Polish and Hungarian leadership with American technology.
The agreement centers on the use of General Electric’s BWRX-300 small modular reactor, which is described as one of the most advanced and safest nuclear technologies available. “This is American engineering at its best — the kind of trusted technology that reflects the strength, reliability, and excellence of the American industrial base,” said Palladino.
Palladino emphasized that such partnerships demonstrate the benefits when nations work together: “And this partnership shows what happens when sovereign nations act in common purpose: we strengthen our countries, our industries, and our energy security.”
He also highlighted U.S. government initiatives under President Trump to promote American nuclear innovation through programs like FIRST and SPRING and Executive Order 14299. According to Palladino, these efforts underscore nuclear energy as a source of national strength and regional security. “Through initiatives like the FIRST and SPRING programs, and through Executive Order 14299, President Trump has made clear that American nuclear energy is a tool of national strength, of regional security, and of enduring prosperity.”
The agreement was framed as part of broader strategic cooperation between Hungary and the United States in several areas including defense, commerce, space, and energy. “The United States and Hungary are deepening our relationship across the board: in defense, in commerce, in space, and in energy,” said Palladino.
Palladino noted Hungary’s decision to invest in its energy future with partners it trusts. He stated: “Hungary has made a clear and sovereign choice to invest in its energy future with trusted partners. And the United States is proud to be one of them.”
He congratulated Synthos Green Energy and Hunatom on their agreement and reaffirmed America’s commitment to supporting allies with clean, reliable energy solutions. “Let me congratulate Synthos and Hunatom on this forward-looking agreement. And let me reaffirm the American commitment to helping our allies secure clean, reliable, and sovereign energy supplies for generations to come.”
