The USS Ohio (SSGN 726), an Ohio-class guided-missile submarine, arrived in Brisbane, Australia, on July 27, 2025. This marks the first visit of an Ohio-class submarine to the city. The submarine moored alongside the forward-deployed submarine tender USS Frank Cable (AS 40).

The arrival of the USS Ohio coincides with the upcoming 80th anniversary of Victory in the Pacific Day on August 15, which commemorates the end of World War II in the Pacific. This event highlights decades of shared history and cooperation between the U.S. and Australia. During World War II, Brisbane was a significant hub for U.S. Navy submarines.

During this port visit, USS Ohio will host tours and engagements for distinguished visitors and community leaders aboard USS Frank Cable. Sailors from both vessels will also participate in volunteer activities with local community service groups.

USS Ohio is homeported in Bangor, Washington, and is assigned to Submarine Squadron 19. It is conducting routine operations within the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations.

Commander, Submarine Group 7 oversees combat-capable forces throughout various regions including the Western Pacific and Indian Ocean.
