Multiple organizations in Peru have announced plans for strikes and demonstrations around the Peruvian Independence Day weekend. These events are expected to take place from July 24 to 29, 2025, primarily in Lima. Key locations for these demonstrations include Plaza Dos de Mayo, Plaza San Martín, Paseo de los Héroes Navales, and routes leading to the Congress of the Republic. The public should anticipate heavy traffic and increased security measures. Demonstrations may also occur in other cities across the country.

Transport strikes scheduled for July 24-25 and July 27-28, 2025, could disrupt transportation services. Participants may include cab drivers, motorcycle taxi drivers, collective transporters, and informal bus operators.

The U.S. Embassy advises avoiding crowds and demonstrations and not interfering with or attempting to bypass roadblocks. Individuals should follow instructions from the Peruvian National Police, Peruvian Armed Forces, and local authorities while monitoring local media for updates.
