The U.S. Embassy in Lisbon has informed U.S. citizens in Portugal about an impending labor strike by the Metal and Allied Industries Union (SIMA). The strike is set to occur from July 25th through September 1st and may disrupt travel and operations at major Portuguese airports.

The schedule for the strikes includes:

- July: Friday, July 25 to Monday, July 28.

- August: Friday, August 8-Monday, August 11; Friday, August 15-Monday, August 18; Friday, August 22-Monday, August 25; Friday, August 29-Monday, September 1.

Travelers are advised to confirm their flight status with airlines on their travel day. It is also recommended to allow extra time for check-in and security due to possible delays. Travelers should be prepared for long lines and potential baggage delays and stay updated via local media.
