The first half of 2025 has seen a series of natural disasters affecting Australia, including Cyclone Alfred and major flooding in Central and South West Queensland and New South Wales. These events have had a significant impact on communities.

National Australia Bank (NAB) has provided disaster relief grants and financial assistance to over 3,700 customers who were severely affected. The bank has distributed more than $5 million in grants to help cover emergency expenses for those whose homes, farms, or businesses suffered damage.

As the frequency and severity of natural disasters increase, so does the need for immediate post-disaster assistance. NAB Foundation partners with Disaster Relief Australia (DRA), a veteran-led not-for-profit organization that mobilizes veterans and volunteers to aid in community resilience and recovery efforts across Australia.

Following the floods that impacted South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales Brisbane in 2022, DRA and NAB Foundation collaborated to manage spontaneous community volunteers offering support. This led to the creation of the NAB Foundation Recovery Crew—a group of volunteers assisting communities in recovery efforts.

Individuals are invited to join the NAB Foundation Recovery Crew as community volunteers. Participation is open to anyone aged 18 or older without prior experience required. Volunteers will assist with clean-up operations for the NSW flooding disaster and other future emergencies.

To join, interested individuals can register their interest online, complete a volunteer profile, and await further information from the team. Being part of this initiative not only aids regions in crisis but also enhances disaster preparedness and resilience within communities.

Participation fosters solidarity and community spirit among Australians experiencing natural disasters' impacts.
