Jeremey Neitzke is serving as the Chargé d’Affaires of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Maputo, Mozambique. He took on this role in August 2022 after arriving as Deputy Chief of Mission. Before his current position, Mr. Neitzke was the Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Lilongwe, Malawi from 2019 to 2022.
Mr. Neitzke is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service and has held various assignments both overseas and in Washington. His previous roles include Management Counselor positions in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Bridgetown and the Eastern Caribbean. In Washington, he worked at the Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operations where he managed conflict response efforts such as U.S. non-lethal support for Syrian oppositionists during its civil war, conflict prevention during Burma's 2015 elections, and countering violent extremism in Bangladesh.
He has also served previously in Maputo, Durban, Panama City, and was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Kenya.
Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Mr. Neitzke studied at Truman State University for his undergraduate degree and holds a Master's degree in National Resource Strategy from National Defense University (2014). He speaks Portuguese and Spanish fluently. Mr. Neitzke is married with two children.
