Richard C. Michaels, Chargé d’Affaires | U.S. Embassy in Togo

Chargé d’Affaires Richard C. Michaels recently met with the Port Autonome de Lomé (PAL) General Manager Rear Admiral Fogan Adegnon and Lomé Container Terminal (LCT) Deputy Director Youssef Masri to discuss potential business opportunities for U.S. companies. The Port of Lomé, ranked as Africa's fourth busiest container port and listed among Lloyd’s List 2024 Top 100 global ports, serves as a crucial logistics hub connecting the region and the Sahel.

The port boasts advanced deep-water capabilities and state-of-the-art equipment, handling over 30 million tons annually. It provides U.S. businesses significant access to African markets. The ongoing infrastructure expansion, including a dry port and an industrial zone, further strengthens its position as a gateway for growth.

The U.S. Embassy is committed to linking American firms with key opportunities in logistics, infrastructure, and trade in Lomé. The aim is to transform Lomé's potential into investments that promote growth and innovation for both U.S. businesses and West Africa.
