Secretary of State Marco Rubio engaged in a conversation with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa al-Sudani, addressing recent attacks on energy infrastructure. The discussion highlighted the involvement of U.S. companies and the need for accountability and prevention measures by the Iraqi government.
"The Secretary noted the importance of paying Iraqi Kurdistan Region (IKR) salaries consistently and resuming oil exports via the Iraq-Türkiye Pipeline," according to Spokesperson Tammy Bruce.
Rubio also expressed concerns regarding the Popular Mobilization Commission (PMC) bill pending in the Council of Representatives (COR). He emphasized that such legislation could institutionalize Iranian influence and armed terrorist groups, which would undermine Iraq's sovereignty.
