Anti-gentrification demonstrations are expected to occur in Mexico City on Sunday, July 20, starting at 3:00 p.m. The demonstration will take place in Tlalpan, between Fuentes Brotantes and El Caminero. A previous protest took place in the Roma and Condesa neighborhoods on July 4, where some participants vandalized property and threw rocks at people perceived to be foreigners.

U.S. government personnel have been advised to avoid the demonstration area. U.S. citizens are also cautioned against participating in demonstrations that may be deemed political by authorities, as Mexican law prohibits political activities by foreign citizens. Participation could result in detention or deportation.

Traffic congestion, enhanced police presence, and increased security measures are expected in the area during the demonstration.

The U.S. Embassy advises individuals to avoid areas around protests and demonstrations due to their unpredictable nature. People should monitor local media for updates and follow directions from local authorities. In case of emergency, individuals can call 911.
