Deputy Secretary Landau visits Japan for U.S.-Japan bilateral talks

Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau is set to visit Tokyo and Osaka, Japan from July 17-20. The visit is part of a Presidential Delegation to attend the U.S. National Day at the World Expo in Osaka on July 19. This trip aims to strengthen the bilateral relationship between the United States and Japan.

During his visit, Deputy Secretary Landau will participate in a trilateral meeting with Japanese Vice Foreign Minister Funakoshi Takehiro and Republic of Korea (ROK) First Vice Foreign Minister Park Yoon-joo in Tokyo. He will also hold separate bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Japan and ROK.

This marks Deputy Secretary Landau's first trip to Asia in his current role, where he focuses on reinforcing the United States' commitment to promoting a free, open, and secure Indo-Pacific region. The visit also seeks to enhance the trilateral partnership among the United States, Japan, and ROK.
