BMO has announced that its Wildfire Recovery Fund is now accepting applications to support the Los Angeles community in recovering from this year's wildfires. The fund, totaling $3 million, aims to assist individuals, families, and communities impacted by the fires.

The funding will be directed towards nonprofit organizations with initiatives focused on rebuilding efforts. These efforts include aiding recovery for individuals and families, with an emphasis on small businesses and home ownership. Services provided will help navigate administrative recovery requirements and offer mental health support.

Community rebuilding efforts are also a focus of the fund. Programs addressing food insecurity, shelter needs, healthcare access, and education will receive support. Additionally, initiatives for community cleanup and infrastructure rebuilding are included.

Halé Behzadi, Vice Chair of California at BMO U.S., emphasized BMO's commitment to long-term recovery efforts: "The wildfires earlier this year caused heartbreaking devastation...we're in it for the long-term with them."

BMO's commitment extends beyond financial aid; employees are encouraged to contribute through donations and volunteer events. Michele Havens, Head of U.S. Private Wealth at BMO, shared her personal experience: "As someone who lost their home in the wildfire...this fund is more than financial support."

Nonprofit organizations in Los Angeles County can apply for grants starting at $25,000 through BMO's grants portal. The bank aims to encourage thriving communities by supporting local organizations and promoting employee giving.

In 2024 alone, BMO directed over $80 million towards community progress across North America.

BMO Financial Group ranks as the seventh largest bank in North America by assets as of April 30, 2025.
