Thank you to Steve from the Pacific Disaster Center and the Director General for their cooperation. Appreciation is extended to the US Africa Command for sponsoring this training and to the Pacific Disaster Center for conducting it in Madagascar.

The Pacific Disaster Center, known globally as an applied research center at the University of Hawaii, has collaborated with Malagasy partners, particularly BNGRC, to conduct a Baseline Assessment aimed at disaster risk reduction in Madagascar. The assessment offers recommendations for managing disasters and reducing vulnerability across regions, helping prioritize actions and investments to enhance resilience.

This workshop aims to improve disaster preparedness by identifying national, regional, and district-level conditions affecting capacity and response capabilities. It aligns with international strategies like the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction.

The issue of disaster preparedness is also relevant internationally; Texas recently experienced a flood that resulted in nearly 200 fatalities. This partnership aims to foster a culture of prevention that improves safety and wellbeing.

Gratitude is expressed once more to PDC and BNGRC colleagues for organizing this training and everyone involved in addressing this issue.
