Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau held a meeting with Haitian Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé to address the ongoing efforts aimed at restoring security and advancing political stability in Haiti. During the discussion, Deputy Secretary Landau emphasized that the security crisis in Haiti poses a threat to both regional and national security.
Both officials highlighted the importance of reinstating constitutional order and strengthening Haiti's democratic institutions. The Deputy Secretary expressed U.S. support for the Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission but stressed the need for greater burden-sharing among partners.
Additionally, Deputy Secretary Landau reaffirmed the United States' commitment to holding accountable those who undermine stability in Haiti. He stated that "the United States will continue to leverage all tools, including sanctions, visa restrictions, and other measures against individuals who enable violence and instability."
