YSEALI announces 2024 Seeds projects tackling regional challenges

The U.S. Mission to ASEAN has announced the 2024 YSEALI Seeds for the Future projects, highlighting several initiatives aimed at addressing various social and environmental challenges in Southeast Asia.

One of the projects, #KakakAman, focuses on tackling violence against children in Indonesia by providing sex education to empower them with self-protection skills. The initiative aims to expand its reach with support from YSEALI Seeds.

Another project, The Adulting Community (TAC), seeks to fill gaps in education systems by teaching life skills necessary for adulthood through workshops and community engagements.

Touchable is working on a multisensory learning kit for visually impaired students to enhance their understanding of scientific concepts. This kit will be tested in schools catering to such students.

EmpowHER Tech is creating a supportive ecosystem for women in technology through programs like SHE4SHE Bootcamp, SHEngineer Program, and SHEntrepreneur Incubator.

The Wildlife Coexistence Quest aims to aid shark conservation by developing a board game-like tool based on research games and models. This tool will help assess behavioral data related to shark-ray fisheries.

DigiVerse is an initiative designed to equip Southeast Asian youth with digital skills and ethical awareness using augmented reality storybooks and a metaverse platform.

Humba SHEpreneur empowers young women in Sumba through entrepreneurial training focused on local crafts. It includes workshops on self-efficacy and business incubation programs.

The I Am VolunTEEN (IAV) Project focuses on equipping high school students in Southern Vietnam with knowledge about volunteering and civic engagement through academic sessions and community activities.

Green Talent Generation connects specialists with communities to raise climate awareness across Southeast Asia, empowering youth with green skills for the green economy.

SeatForTheFuture educates Lao PDR’s high school students about fundamental rights and obligations through discussions on accessible platforms like social media.

Project KARITON enhances education for elementary students in Northern Luzon by focusing on reading, communication, and interpersonal skills development.

Saribuhay: Storytelling for a Greener Tomorrow promotes biodiversity conservation in Palawan using storytelling as a tool for environmental consciousness among students and teachers.

Labor Plus educates Cambodian youth about labor rights to counter workplace exploitation through workshops, campaigns, and printed resources aimed at Gen Z workers.

Cutting Carbon addresses carbon emissions from crop residue burning by promoting sustainable farming practices among farmers in Shan (N).

These diverse projects reflect efforts towards sustainable development across Southeast Asia supported by the U.S. Mission to ASEAN's YSEALI Seeds program.
