The Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program offers a nine-month opportunity for early career English teachers and professionals in related fields to teach their native language at American colleges or universities. Funded by the State Department, this non-degree program is designed for full-time teachers with no more than seven years of teaching experience.

Participants can enhance their teaching skills, improve their English proficiency, and learn about U.S. society and culture while serving as teaching assistants. They will assist in up to twenty hours of language classes per week and must enroll in at least two courses each semester, one being U.S. Studies. The program also requires participants to engage in cultural events, language clubs, and language tables.

After completing the program, participants must return to their home countries. The Fulbright FLTA does not support dependents; family members can visit only during holidays.

Applicants must be Omani citizens residing in Oman throughout the application process, hold an undergraduate degree by June 1, 2026, have no more than seven years of full-time teaching experience, and demonstrate fluency in English with specific TOEFL or IELTS scores.

Selection criteria include leadership skills, student motivation abilities, interest in sharing their native culture with U.S. students, creativity, self-reliance, and strong interpersonal skills. Preference is given to those with little prior experience living in the United States.

Applications are accepted until August 28, 2025 (Oman time), through the online platform provided.
