BRISBANE, Australia – The USS America (LHA 6), an amphibious assault ship, arrived in Brisbane on July 9 with U.S. Marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit for a scheduled port visit. This visit is part of routine operations within the U.S. 7th Fleet.
The visit emphasizes the strong partnership between the United States and Australia and allows the crew to experience Australian culture. "After a period of rigorous training, our port visit to Brisbane offers our Sailors and Marines a well-deserved opportunity to recharge," said Navy Capt. Ethan Rule, America's commanding officer.
During their stay, crew members will engage in community activities like volunteer projects and cultural exchanges. They will also explore Brisbane's history and traditions.
The U.S. Navy collaborates closely with the Australian Defence Force through joint exercises to enhance regional stability. This port visit further solidifies this partnership as both nations work together on shared security challenges.
