The U.S. Embassy in Djibouti marked the graduation of 55 young participants from the English for Success (EFS) program. The ceremony took place at the American Corner within the Chamber of Commerce on July 10, 2025.
U.S. Ambassador Cynthia Kierscht attended the event alongside graduates, instructors, embassy staff, and local partners to acknowledge the students' accomplishments.
The EFS program is supported by the U.S. Embassy and offers a three-month course aimed at improving English proficiency with an emphasis on job readiness and communication skills. In 2025, nearly 200 learners participated across three cohorts, highlighting the embassy's commitment to youth development and economic opportunities.
Ambassador Kierscht commended the graduates, stating, “Today is more than just a graduation—it is a celebration of your dedication, your promise, and your vision for a brighter future.”
The American Corner at the Chamber of Commerce functions as a center for English language learning and cultural exchange. Initiatives like EFS aim to prepare young Djiboutians for global competition.
During the ceremony, certificates were awarded to graduates. A student speech was delivered, followed by a reception with partners and community members. Ambassador Kierscht noted the collaboration between the embassy and the Chamber of Commerce as part of an enduring educational partnership with Djibouti.
