The partnership between Swansea University and Hywel Dda University Health Board has been further solidified with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at St David’s Park, Carmarthen. This agreement focuses on collaboration in research and development, enterprise and innovation, as well as workforce education and training.
The new phase of this partnership will enhance collaboration with the National Network for Innovation in Sport and Health (NNIISH), an initiative targeting advancements in life sciences, health, and sports sectors.
Key figures from both organizations attended the ceremony, including Dr. Phil Kloer, Chief Executive of Hywel Dda; Professor Paul Boyle, Vice-Chancellor of Swansea University; Dr. Leighton Phillips, Director of Research, Innovation and Value; and Professor Charlotte Rees, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Science.

Recent developments illustrate what this partnership can achieve across the region. These include world-leading simulation rooms at SUSIM for realistic training for student doctors, nurses, and midwives at Swansea's Singleton Park Campus and Parc Dewi Sant in Carmarthen. Additionally, there are joint appointments with the Health Technology Centre for product design support in life sciences and collaborative evaluations with the Joint Clinical Research Facility aimed at enhancing cardiovascular disease prevention strategies.
