Drew Hoster, U.S. Consul General in Hermosillo | U.S. Embassy and Consulate in Mexico

Drew Hoster has taken on the role of Consul General at the U.S. Consulate General in Hermosillo as of June 2025. In this capacity, he is responsible for overseeing consulate operations and working to enhance the U.S.-Mexico relationship in Central-Southern Sonora and Sinaloa.

Hoster previously served as the Countrywide Consular Coordinator for Mission Vietnam from 2022 to 2025, where he was in charge of managing consular operations across the country. Before that, he was Deputy Director of Consular Training at the Foreign Service Institute, where he managed training programs for staff, developed digital content, and led various consular courses.

His career includes roles such as Nonimmigrant Visa Chief in Guadalajara, Mexico; Chief of American Citizen Services and Immigrant Visa Services in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Deputy Chief Consular Officer in Phnom Penh, Cambodia; Human Rights and Labor Officer, Ambassador’s Staff Assistant, and Immigrant Visa Officer in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; and Consular Officer in Chennai, India.

Before entering the U.S. Foreign Service in 2004, Hoster worked as a litigation attorney in Portland, Oregon. He is an alumnus of the University of Kansas and George Mason University School of Law.
