UOB has announced a S$100,000 sponsorship and donation to the Singapore Tennis Association (STA) to support young tennis talents. The agreement was signed at UOB Plaza in the presence of Mr Wee Ee Cheong, Deputy Chairman and CEO of UOB, and Ms Jasmine Quek, President of STA.

The sponsorship will cover coaching, training expenses, entry fees for international tournaments, and academic-athletic expenses like tuition support. Eligible players must be ranked in the top 90 in the International Tennis Federation’s world rankings and demonstrate academic excellence.

This initiative is part of UOB's 90th anniversary efforts to support children and students across Southeast Asia. It highlights UOB’s commitment to education, youth development, and art. Bill Chan, a notable young athlete from Singapore who has competed internationally, has been nominated by STA to receive this sponsorship.

Ms Jasmine Quek expressed gratitude for UOB's commitment to youth development and sport. "On behalf of the Singapore Tennis Association, I extend our deepest appreciation to UOB for its generous sponsorship," she said.

Dr Su Chun Wei from Sport Singapore also acknowledged UOB's contribution: “We thank UOB for their generous support of Singapore’s tennis community.”

Ms Janet Young from UOB emphasized the bank's broader vision: “Beyond banking, we believe in creating positive and meaningful impact in our communities."

As part of its 90th anniversary celebrations, UOB aims to provide educational programs benefiting 250,000 students across ASEAN over five years.

A dialogue session featuring young changemakers like Bill Chan was held at UOB Plaza with about 300 youth beneficiaries attending. This event was officiated by Mr David Neo, Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth.

The celebration included various activities such as guided tours around light installations along the Singapore River as part of i Light Singapore.
